As art collectors ourselves, we recognize the value in unique creations. Because silk weavings and other hand-woven works are often overlooked by collectors and individuals adorning their living spaces, we believe that offering something distinctive--that will literally last generations--is worth doing.
2. Where do your tapestries/wall hangings come from?
Our tapestries are especially selected from a private source in northern Laos in Southeast Asia.
3. When can I expect to receive my order?
We generally ship orders twice a week via USPS and/or UPS. If there is any urgency (such as a birthday, anniversary, holiday etc.), we are more than delighted to try and accommodate your requests. Just send us an email or ring us to let us know, and we’ll be happy to work with you.
4. Are your tapestries fairly traded?
Absolutely. Master artisans, working under the “Fair Trade in Laos Workgroup” seal, hand loom our tapestries: we are opposed to the use of child labor and unfair labor practices.
5. What is your return policy?
We partner with PayPal and offer 100% satisfaction (for any reason) or your money back. Simply return the tapestry in its original condition, along with the bamboo hanger for a full and immediate refund. It's that simple.
6. How do I care for my tapestries?
Because each tapestry is a work of art, we strongly recommend dry cleaning as the easiest and safest way to keep your silk tapestry in perfect condition, and to maintain its original look.
7. Is there a genuine difference between a machine-made tapestry and yours?
We guarantee it. A tapestry is a work of art, and like any handmade work of art, it reflects the skill, emotion, and vision of the creator. A machine-made, mass-produced product can never reflect the artistry revealed in the subtle manifestations of the weave, choice of colors, design and texture. No two are exactly the same. We at Silk Tapestries are offering works of art and nothing less.
8. How can I tell the difference from 100% pure silk vs. an imitation fiber?
The feel and texture are evident, but the burning match test will prove the point. Putting an open flame to a few fibers of silk will leave a powdery ash and smell like burning hair. If you remove the flame, it will stop burning. Synthetic fabrics, on the other hand, will keep burning, drip and give off a black smoke.
9. What about color fidelity and measurements?
We take great care to accurately represent our tapestries. Our tapestries are professionally photographed (www.toddhuffman.com); however, slight variations in color monitors are beyond our control. Therefore, the colors in “real life” may be subtly different than what you see on your computer’s monitor. Our 100% satisfaction guarantee ensures that, no matter why, you may return the tapestry (in its original condition) for a full refund.

Your privacy is important and we take it seriously. All credit card transactions are administered online through PayPal . Silk Tapestries never sees, nor do we collect/store any personal financial information whatsoever. We do, however, maintain a professional client list with your name and contact details. This list will never be shared, and though we offer special discounts for repeat clients and referrals, you are free to have us remove you from our list at any time.
